Arrows Over Athens

New Music Monday is Arrows Over Athens! I recently came across this incredible band in one of the recent issues of Alternative Press magazine and I love them. Their sound is unique, the vocals are beautiful and clear, and the instrumentals are clean cut. I highly recommend Arrows Over Athens to any punk/pop/rock fans and any fans of Paramore, Flyleaf, and Mayday Parade.

Hey Monday

Band of the week is Hey Monday! This female fronted pop punk band is led by the beautiful Cassadee Pope. While some like to compare her to Hayley Williams of Paramore, Pope is really more like herself. She has her own style and her own creativity. Hey Monday sounds like no other, they hold true their unique sound and that's what most people love about the band, that and they're incredible coolness of course. You will however like Hey Monday if you like I See Stars, Paramore, Mayday Parade, and Attack Attack!

New Music Monday: City Rivals

This weeks New Music Monday band is City Rivals! Fresh out of Chicago, Illinois, City Rivals is one hell of a dynamic duo. Two friends,Benjamin Radigan and Kevin Martinez formed the band in 2011 and even though they're still new to the music scene they've certainly started to make their mark with a unique and creative approach to music. My favorite song is Back Down Baby, it's fresh and fun, you're sure to love it. Check out City Rivals if you like Taking Back Sunday, Go Radio or You Me At Six.

Taking Back Sunday!!!

The band of the week is here! Taking Back Sunday is an all time favorite and I will most likely never stop loving them. They have an attitude and they know how to rock. Lucky for you guys they have new material and it's amazing! If you're a fan of any rock I highly recommend Taking Back Sunday. The band is from Rockville Center, NY and believe it or not they've been around since 1999 thankfully they're still here and thriving like there's no tomorrow.

I See Stars!

The band of the week is....drum role please.....I See Stars! Fresh out of Michigan, this "electronicore" band has yet to bore me. They fuse hardcore with electronic and techno beats creating one hell of a sound. The most recent album Digital Renegade has been an incredible addition to their discography. Many of you have probably heard Electric Forest featuring Cassadee Pope of Hey Monday and it's one of those songs that you simply cannot stop listening to. Another favorite off the album is Filth Friends Unite a great pump up song for any workout or boring day. I recommend ALL of I See Stars music to EVERYONE! Or anyone who likes hardcore, metalcore, techno rock, or bands like Asking Alexandria, Bring Me The Horizon, You Me At Six, or Abandon All Ships.

Book recommendations for the music lovers!

Some of us like to rock out to our favorite tunes and some of us like to go a bit deeper. Not all music bios are great and not ever pop culture novel is so great that it gives us the chills. But if you're looking for a good read here are some suggestions...

Chuck Klosterman is an excellent author. He's cocky, funny, cynical, and knows a little bit about well...everything.

Russel Brand is of course a bit of a media sensation lately. It is true he's a musician, actor, comedian, and ex husband but believe it or not there is more to Russel than meets the eye. This book has everything sex, drugs, and rock n' roll and he doesn't hold back.

Marilyn Manson's book The Long Road Out Of Hell is a brutally honest take on Manson's life. He captures his childhood all the way up to present times with dark and twisted stories and memories so brace yourself.

And of course who doesn't love Motley Crue?! This book is incredible hands down. I had a hard time even putting it down. It's full of rock, laughs, tears, drugs, sex, and heartache. An intense look at the Crue you'll love.

Happy reading!

In Her Memory

This weeks new music comes from In Her Memory!!!! This five piece metalcore band rocks to hell and back. Their single The Beggar is a great example of what the band is made of. Heavy yet clean cut growls and screams are paired with hard hitting drums and fast yet melodic heavy metal guitars we all know and love. You are sure to love In Her Memory if you're a fan of Whitechapel and Miss May I and of course if you're just looking for a new band to fall in love with these guys are a great pick!

Band of the Week: Jamie's Elsewhere

The band of the week is Jamie's Elsewhere! (A little early I know :) This post-metalcore band formed in 2005 hails from Sacramento, California. Many band members have come and gone over the years but Mike Spearman,
Matt Scarpelli, and Chance Medeiros are holding their own. In 2011 they released They Said A Storm Was Coming featuring songs such as Giant's Among Men and The Mapmaker while capturing strong instrumentals, heavy screams, and even some techno.. I highly recommend Jamie's Elsewhere to fans of Underoath and any post-metalcore fans out there.
