Up In The Air!

At last we hear from 30 Seconds to Mars as their latest album Love Lust Faith + Dreams is set to be released May 21st 2013! The single Up In Th Air was launched into space and broadcasted to their fans here on Earth. It's a powerful and beautiful piece of music that sets off a lot of personal emotion. Some fans are upset about the change in sound while others are happy to hear something fresh. The guys are getting older and eyeliner tends to look strange on a 40 year old man. The sound is amazing and very experimental and the lyrics add the beauty, "I'll wrap my hands around your neck so tight with love, love, love..." Look for the music video to be released soon, I personally cannot wait!

Up In The Air

It's been a while!

Apparently life's busy schedules took over and made me fall very far behind. So let's catch up. Looks like I'm on the right track as far as working for bands in the future. My upcoming internship, senior project, and arts management classes next semester. One step closer! I've made two Facebook pages that are still in the early stages, possibly failing but I'm hoping for the best. The first is Save Your Wrists Listen to Music. It's really a hang out spot that features music, music videos, lyrics, and whatever else people want and it is all based on self injury, mental illness, suicide. But this is not an emo page, I'm not saying self injury is good. I know from experience that when dealing with tough times hearing music that relates to you can help. The songs I pick are generally rock, metal, post hardcore, hardcore, etc... The second page is Amped Alternative which is similar to a Facebook version of this blog.

I've been listening to a lot of Halestorm, Miss May I, and Slipknot. Like non-stop, it's even my study music the louder the better. Trying to find some inspiration for my upcoming senior project, thinking Norwegian Black Metal. Check out Until the Light Takes Us it's on YouTube. Best documentary ever, I watch it over and over again. That or band fan communities. We'll see.

Mayhem Festival is coming! I'll be at the Saratoga show in July. The suspense is killing me, I'm so excited! I've heard many complaints about the lineup and all I can say is, it's the second Mayhem Tour and it's going to be tough to top Slipknot from last summer but I think they chose a good mix of bands for this summer. Some of them I never listen to but they have to cater to everyone's choices so variety is GOOD!

I hope you're all well and hopefully college doesn't get in the way any time soon.

Please Like My Page!

I don't want to sound desperate trust me but my new Facebook page for my second blog Livewire is an easier alternative to that blog. It's easier to update new info on Facebook and I would love to get some "Likes" going. This is part of my future career and I need all the help I can get. Please visit the page and like it and give me bands you want me to include! The link is being a pain so go to Facebook and search for The Livewire Blog. It has a photo of someone at a show giving the rock sign with their hand. Please and thank you guys and girls!

Self Injury and Suicide In Music

Self injury and suicide are not pleasant topics of discussion but they are real and both occur far more often than most people realize. These are some songs that either are about suicide and self injury or can be interpreted in that way. These are purely my opinion you can do with them what you like...

Between the Trees- The Way She Feels

Papa Roach-Scars

Hawthorne Heights- Ohio Is For Lovers

Bayside- How To Fix Everything

Flyleaf- Much Like Falling

Sleeping With Sirens- Iris (Goo Goo Dolls Cover)

Band of the Week: Rosewood Harbor

The band of the week is Rosewood Harbor! I recently stumbled across this melodic hardcore band while flipping through music videos on Youtube. Someone had posted a comment with the band name and my curiosity drove me to the bands Facebook page. Once I listened to their song Footprints I became an instant fan. They're sound and style is pretty unique so have a listen for yourself. Check out their Facebook, Rosewood Harbor. You can listen to Footprints and download free music. Show some support to these guys, lets get a strong fan base going because they deserve it!
